AN OBSCURED DARK TRUTH - A VENTURE INTO MYTHICAL WORLD
“Why did you kill me, Mark?”, said a menacing voice in the dark. With a
knife, clutched tight and dripping drops of scarlet, the silhouette figure
drew nearer to me. A malicious smirk was tangible on his face. Without
much thoughts, he pierced the knife into my stomach. Pools of blood
oozed out profusely through the gap of my flesh.
“JESUS CHRIST!”, I shouted gaspingly. My eyes brimmed with terror.
Beads of sweat ran through my forehead and rested upon my mandible.
“What happened, honey? Bad dream?”, asked my wife, Layla whilst
caressing my back.
“Yes”, I replied outrageously.
Shoving the blanket away, I walked to the bathroom.
“Where are you up to?”
“It’s Monday, Layla. Getting late for Pragnanth. I’ll be back by dusk”.
In the distance nestled the Cave Hill Cemetery into which my late friend
Pragnanth resided. I stood before his tombstone in despondence.
Glimpsing upon his scotopic image impregnated on the tombstone, I
reminisced about the days we were together.
Back in 1939, Pragnanth was the world’s best-known scientist. He even
received the Nobel award for his astonishing discovery of antibacterial
effects of prontosil, shooting himself to stardom. I was his junior back
then. Everything went coherently until one day when we were invited for
a press meet for his prontosil discovery. It was when my life took an
unimaginable twist.
