popularises yachting through publishing in the yachting journals and now
on social media. We no longer do our own training but First Class Sailing do
so in the premises at Limehouse and offer discounts to CA members.
Where are we now? What does the CA have to offer?
One of the great strengths of the Cruising Association is its cruising
information. The CA has nearly 20,000 reports on over 6,000 locations

worldwide. The difference between the CA and many other websites is that
every single report carries a member’s name and all entries are checked for
validity. This information is available on the website but much more
important, it is on the CAptain’s Mate app where one can find it by looking
at a list or a map. I plan all my passages by looking at CAptain’s Mate. Not
only might there be reports on various destinations but I can see them in
map form or satellite view, particularly useful when looking at entering
unfamiliar locations. The app also shows the location of our HLRs and
services or businesses offering discounts to CA members.
For me, one of the greatest assets is the forums. Every entry is attributable,
