                            A        90%-100%          360 points and above is an A

                            B        B+ 87-89%     B  84-86%    B- 80-83%     320 -359 points

                            C        C+ 75-79%     C  70-74%
                            D        D+ 67-69 %    D  60-66%

                            F         59% or below      239 and below will be an F



                       GRADING ELEMENTS:


                       Students will be evaluated on their class discussions, group project, midterm and
                       final exam.
                       1. There will be 1 group project: 100 points (Prison Project)

                         2. There will be 10 in-class assignments. These are interactive learning activities
                              Some will require group work.  (10 activities @10 points each) 100 points
                              Participation includes:
                               (in-class group activities, case law discussions, discussion questions, or Canvas
                               activities)
                       3. Media analysis paper (50)

                       4. There will be a 50 question midterm exam consisting of multiple-choice questions
                       worth 1 point each. (Chapters 1-7)

                       5. The final exam is multiple-choice: 50 questions worth 2 points each (Chapters 8-
                       13 and class lectures/class discussions we had throughout the semester) 100 points
                   Participation in Class Discussion
                   Class participation is a very important part of the learning process in this course.  You
                   will be evaluated on the QUALITY of your contributions and insights.  Quality comments
                   possess one or more of the following properties:
                         Offers a different and unique, but relevant, perspective;
                         Contributes to moving the discussion and analysis forward;
                         Builds on other comments; displays critical thinking;
