GRIT
I recently watched a video presentation by psychologist
Angela Duckworth in which she talked about Grit.
She says that “Grit is the passion and
perseverance for very long–term goals. Grit is
having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future,
day in, day out. Not just for the week, not just
for the month but for years and working really
hard to make that future a reality… It is
constancy of effort over time” (Duckworth, 2013).
In her view, grit is described as a mental toughness that
gets stronger when used, much like weight lifting to
build muscle strength. She goes on to say that grit is a
stronger predictor of success and the ability to reach
one’s goals than is talent.
