drive; therefore, only some of the program is actually in the program’s
folder.
Instead, the proper method goes like this:
Enlightened programs (released since Windows 10). Open the
Start menu’s “All apps” list. Right-click the program’s name. From
the shortcut menu, choose Uninstall (Figure 6-16, left).

Here’s a small blessing: In the May 2019 Update, you can uninstall almost all of Microsoft’s built-
in apps this way, including Paint 3D, Groove Music, and Mail. (Edge and the Microsoft Store are
still permanent installations.)
Older programs. Open the “Apps & features” page of Settings (
→ → Apps → “Apps & features”). Select the app, and then hit
Uninstall (Figure 6-16, right).
You have to admit it: That is progress, is it not?
Note
If you don’t see the name of the app you want to remove in Settings, it must be a truly ancient,
creaking piece of work. You might have to open the old Control Panel and navigate to the
Programs and Features page (“Programs and Features”), to remove it.
