In the Department Store
Mei wants to go to the fourth floor but cannot find the elevator. She asks a shop
clerk for help.
Mei: Um, where would the elevator be?
Anō… Erebētā wa dochira deshō ka.
あのう、エレベーターは、どちらでしょうか。
Clerk: Elevator? It’s over there. It’s right near the stairs.
Erebētā desu ka. Achira ni gozaimasu. Kaidan no sugu soba desu.
エレベーターですか。あちらにございます。階段のすぐそばで
す。
Mei: Sorry. Can you say (that) slowly one more time?
Sumimasen. Mō ichi-do yukkuri, onegai-shimasu.
すみません。もう一度ゆっくりお願いします。

Mei: Excuse me. Fourth floor, please.
