1. Ask a new member of the international club the following questions. Use
hesitation noises.
1) What is your name?
2) Where are you from?
3) What is your job?
4) Where is your company?
5) Are you a student? What grade are you?
2. You’ve been asked to identify something/someone. Answer as follows.
6) Do you mean this? It’s Mr. Ito’s business card.
7) Do you mean that? It’s an American company.
8) Which one do you mean? Do you mean that near you? It’s today’s
schedule.
9) This is the name of Ms. Suzuki’s company.
10) Do you mean me? I’m an exchange student at Waseda University. I’m
from China.
EXERCISE 6
Role Play
1. At a welcome party of your office, you’ve been asked to introduce yourself.
2. At an event, ask a person at your table for his/her name, as well as where
he/she is from, which university he/she went to, and what his/her job is.
Remember to use hesitation noises and hai if you didn’t get what he/she said.
