Angular settings that cut the corners make for
off-beat seating and add interest. However I would
not recommend bulky upholstered sofas that take
a lot of space and don’t seat too many. Instead
use petit furniture – as an example a light three
seater wooden frame sofa and chair which allow
comfortable seating plus make the room seem
bigger. One of the benefits of small corner sofas
is they can increase space and offer large
quantities of usable seating area. Should you
juxtapose this with larger pieces it adds drama
and appeal to the room. Add into your design a
large lamp or artwork, it will also increase the
charm of the room.
In today’s times where furniture work as pieces
of art -traditional sofa design -has seen a revolution
in terms of creativity. Gone is the time of the
‘sofa set’, you see sculptural shapes and designs.
The sofa must morph to function in different
spaces, and you must find one that works with

take the place of chairs with a round table and two
or three chairs around it. In the living long space
where you now have the sofa and comfortable
seating around facing the book case that will
create a reading nook and add to the functionality
of the room. You could also hang a plasma screen
above the console.
