Legs
The legs of honey bees are
used for more than just
walking. Super-sensitive, they
enable the bees to detect,
collect and ‘pack’ pollen, as well
as carry out work in the hive.
This is possible using
specialized hairs on different
parts of the legs.Those on the
outer tibia of the hind legs, for
instance, are especially long and
act as ‘pollen baskets’.
