q National Museum of American History
The National Museum of American History preserves a collection
of artifacts and archival materials from the nation’s past. Among
the 3 million holdings are the First Ladies’ gowns, a 280-ton steam
locomotive, and the original Star-Spangled Banner that flew
over Fort McHenry in 1814. The museum’s west wing will Second Floor
be under renovation until 2018. Some galleries may be
closed and exhibits may be moved around.
