Punts were formerly used to
carry peat along the canals of
Giethoorn. They are now used
for tourist trips; you can also
occasionally catch glimpses of
them in the village’s old
ditches and channels.
Reeds
The countryside around Giethoorn
abounds with lakes and ponds. The
reeds which grow along their banks
are used to make cane furniture
and to thatch roofs.
Tourist Boats
There are many places in Giethoorn where
you can hire quiet, electrically powered boats.
