A Two-Hour Walk around Planty
The Planty green belt in Krakow has replaced the city’s
medieval fortifications, built between the late 13th and
15th centuries. They were demolished early in the 19th
century and the small stretch of wall by Floriańska Street is
the only fragment to have survived. The gardens of Planty
were landscaped to include a network of radiating lanes
and beautiful vistas. In the second half of the 19th century
the well-kept Planty became a popular venue for socializing.
After a period of regeneration the Planty now features period
fencing, benches and street lamps.
