1 Canopy of St Stanisław
This altar, the largest in the cathedral, is dedicated to
Poland. It was probably designed by Giovanni Battista
Trevano. The silver reliquary in the form of a coffin,
containing the relics of St Stanisław, was made by
Peter von der Rennen from 1669 to 1671.

4 Tomb of King Stefan Batory
The work of an outstanding sculptor, Santi
Chapel of the Virgin Gucci, this tomb was created in 1595. It is a
(Batory Chapel) fine example of Mannerist decoration.
5 Tomb of King Jan III
Sobieski
Overloaded with
Baroque decoration,
the tomb of
King Jan III (died
1696) and his wife
was made in 1760
to the designs of
Francesco Placidi.
6 Tomb of King Jan Olbracht
Created from 1502 to 1505, the
decoration of the recess around
the tomb is the earliest example
of Renaissance art in Poland. The
design is modelled on a Roman
triumphal arch. The sarcophagus
retains late Gothic forms.
3 Crucifix of Queen Jadwiga
According to legend the
Queen prayed in front of this
expressive crucifix (c.1380),
which has become a place of
mass pilgrimage. The relics of Key
the Queen, who became a
saint, rest in the altar. Suggested route
