       A small convent of the
       Bernardine Nuns was estab­
       lished in Poselska Street in
       1646. The Church of St Joseph
       was built here between 1694
       and 1703 for the nuns. Though
       small and modest the church
       interior displays splendid fur­
       nishings which include altars
       and a pulpit from the workshop
       of Jerzy Hankis. The miraculous
       image of St Joseph and Child
       in the high altar was a gift from
       Jakub Zadzik, Bishop of Krakow,
       who possibly received it from
       Pope Urban VIII.
        A 17th­century statue of the
       child Jesus in the side altar is
       much venerated. It originally
       came from the Church of the
       Nuns of St Colette in Stradom
       and is therefore called the
