babywearing: The lowdown

                                                       I get backache
                                               Q – what sort of

                                           carrier might work for me?
A: To minimise the risk of backache, you need an
ergonomic carrier that will distribute your baby’s
weight evenly. Choose a wrap or a soft structured
carrier, which holds your baby’s legs in an M-position
with his knees higher than his bottom. The seat
of your carrier needs to be knee to knee, so
should fit from the back of one of his
                                                     kneestotheother.
                             I’m worried

                     Q about my baby
becoming clingy – when is a good
                 time to stop babywearing?

A: The best time to stop babywearing is whenever it
stops working for you and your child. There is no right
and wrong time to stop, and many people find carriers
very useful during the toddler years when their little
one decides he doesn’t want to walk. Don’t worry
about clinginess; babywearing won’t stop your
baby being curious about the world
                      around him and wanting to
                                explore.
