           Artois Hound

          The sometimes precocious Artois Hound from France is an
                                                                                                   Unique, practically flat,
          excellent hunting companion that needs lots of exercise. It has                            open, pendant ears
          a strong directional sense, a very keen nose, precise pointing,
          speed on the move, and drive. Its ancestry goes back to the
                                                                            Tricolor             Strong,
          Great Artois Hound (and back to the Saint Hubert),                                  broad back
          while some English blood also modified
          the breed. Although this dog was
                                                             Broad head
          brought back from near extinction                  with moderately
                                                             long muzzle
          in the early 1990s, it remains rare.

          A relative newcomer—France

          excels as a rabbit hunter
          but is also known for
          its friendly nature.
