Piranha

R iver creatures watch out! A piranha’s jaws are full of sharp,

white teeth, and they snap shut with massive force. If a
piranha were the same size as a T. rex, guess which would have

the strongest bite? The piranha! These fierce and fast little fish
lurk in South American rivers. To see who is fiercest, they have

staring contests.

The red-bellied piranha has a taste for other fish. It bites off chunks

of flesh or gobbles down smaller prey whole. However, other kinds of
piranha aren’t as bloodthirsty. As well as meat, they will chomp on

plants and forest fruits that plop into their river.

Piranhas bark like dogs. The strange sound

doesn’t come from their mouth, but from

deep inside their belly.
