Some of the most deadly hunters that have ever
           AMBUSH HUNTER existed lurked in the oceans during the Mesozoic
           Era. They included the pliosaurs—massive-jawed animals that were specialized for hunting big,
           powerful prey, including other marine reptiles. Liopleurodon was typical of these oceanic predators.
           About 23 ft (7 m) long and armed with huge, spike-shaped teeth, it had no predators.
