                            García Lorca
                            Federico García Lorca (1898–
                            1936) was Spain’s most brilliant
                            dramatist and lyric poet of
                            the 1920s and 1930s. His
                            homosexuality and association
                            with the Left, however, made
                            him a target for Nationalist
                            assas sins. He was shot by an
                            ad hoc firing squad near his
                            home town of Granada.
