5 Kadriorg Park
Kadriorg Park is one of Tallinn’s most interesting features
outside the Old Town. It centres on the mag nificent
18th-century Baroque palace built as a summer residence
for Peter the Great and boasts a wealth of small museums,
historic monuments and art galleries. The park stretches for
1.5 km (1 mile) from its south west corner to the northeast.
It is a popular and pic turesque place for a leisurely stroll.
The elegant and affluent residential streets near the south
entrance are also well worth a look and include museums
dedicated to Eduard Vilde and Anton Hansen Tammsaare, Statue of Friedrich Reinhold
Kreutzwald
two of Estonia’s most prominent 20th-century literary figures.
This grand statue honours
the writer of Kalevipoeg,
considered the founding work
of Estonian literature.
Swan Lake
The Swan Lake is one of the
park’s focal points, although its
elegant island pavilion is
mostly enjoyed by swans.
Anton Hansen Tammsaare Museum
The museum offers an insight into how the
writer Tammsaare (1878–1940) lived and also
exhibits his literary works and personal items.

Eduard Vilde Memorial Museum
This attractive summer house serves as a living
memorial to one of Estonia’s most revered writers.
Vilde lived and worked here until his death in 1933.
