Good evening (after 17:00 p.m. until before midnight)
Goodnight (at night when someone is going to bed).
In English, it is the same as other languages which contained both
formal and informal languages. Then, the language affects to the expression.
Regarding to English for Hotel, hotel staffs should use properly expressions
to the guest because it refers the respectful that the staff shows to the
guest.
