“Jovhar; are the Escape Pod’s equipped with a stasis system?” He asked

“Yes; a short duration system designed to keep the occupant safe until help or assistance arrives.
Why do you ask?” Jovhar replied. He had learned how to speak verbally in Interlac, and found that
the crew and his new found friends preferred him to do so.

“Oh; it’s just that if these readings are correct the Pod managed to somehow use the “Sling-shot” in
reverse. It went quite a way out into intergalactic space before its main Ion thrust cut in. Do these
location readings make sense?” Michael replied and showed him them.

“Remarkable! If Hivlar; its occupant, survived the process then it should be near a Kryst outpost, a
form of emergency way station. I hope she made it, she was with offspring!” He said. Michael
relayed the information to the navigators console and to Krysta’s terminal in the Veklaar’s ready
room. A quick decision later had the Veklaar heading back to She’brakda to recover the rest of the
crew to complete the second objective of their mission.

The Kryst; it seemed, were incredibly long lived, at least those that underwent the retro-
modification. The process had been more effective than anyone could have hoped for. So there was
a good chance Jovhar’s companion was still alive on the Outpost or had been rescued from there.
She would have left some kind of message for him there, he was certain of that. The journey back to
She’brakda was swift and once the explanation of the new direction their mission was taking was
relayed to the planet side team members, a further decision made to leave behind some of the
Mechanoids and droids to maintain systems and keep the sites viable for either the expedition’s
return or for others that may come along. With all the residual crew back on the Veklaar; the ship
and company headed off towards the location of the Escape Pod, guided by Jovhar. Hubris had been
in contact with Killiris; who had expressed an interest in the Expeditions discoveries about the Kryst.

“I might be able to get help from one of The Order’s Protectorate trade vessels for her to join you.
You know how I am when a new species is discovered, besides I’d be interested in seeing if their
medical techniques could be of help in our facility here. I still have Thi’gru’s speedster in flight ready
status. I take her out for a fight every now and then. I still have skills. I’ll try and contact Captain
Gunther Horvak, his vessels out in a nearby region. I could easily persuade him to get me a
rendezvous. If my Stellar Cartography memory hasn’t failed me there should be an old coms relay
platform on your present route. I’ll see if I can make it there for rendezvous in about four days. The
Scharnhorst, Gunther’s ship, was retro fitted with similar drives to your ships’. Ask your captain if it’s
possible please Hubris” she pleaded to him. Krysta was in his room when he’d contacted Killiris she
nodded and said

“We could use all the expertise we can get. I’m fine with delaying our journey to pick her up.
Besides, I believe she and I will get along famously” Krysta winked and Hubris blushed. It was
decided that the slight detour wouldn’t delay them too much. She gave the new orders to Luther in
Navigation and they were on their way.

Hubris; Jenifer and T’luha had studied the
ancient archives to try and figure out the odd
contents of the puzzle box. They were an eclectic
mix of items; mostly electronics items, that T’luha
had ever seen. Some items were recognisable and
hardly different from their current counterparts.
Others were just… old and ancient looking.
Surprisingly the single battery present in the pile
had almost all of its charge, as low a voltage as it
was. The vacuum tubes were intact. Why a bi-metal
