“That’s the Engine control room that was intact when our people boarded this ship. Let’s get back
there and see if what she dropped is still there” Hubris said and the two of them headed back to the
Engineering section.
The Kryst in the Sarcophagus was responding
exceptionally well to the slow resuscitation. Rehydration of
dried out tissues was underway. Stenerton and his Nurse;
Chapel, couldn’t be certain that the vital signs they were
looking at on the display of the Sarcophagus were right or not,
but they were stable at least. Doc was looking at the strange
headband device that had been found. There were slight
protrusions on the Kryst’s head that would line up with
contacts found on the headband. ”We might get our friend
there to try this when he recovers fully.” He said to Evelyn. A
ping came from one of the external devices attached to the Sarcophagus. A countdown display
appeared in the corner of the transparent lid section. It seemed to correspond to the ending of one
of the resuscitation processes. “That should be a good sign” he said. They continued to monitor the
display of the occupant’s vitals as process after process counted down and ended. They were
interrupted by a call from Krysta on the Veklaar’s Bridge.
“Doc; we have some Untharan visitors. A cargo ship by the name of Tegu’u Vendtar, they have a
medical problem on board and require our assistance. They’d heard about the expedition and said
they’d look in on us for the Untharan Senate. The problem is unspecific so be prepared for
anything.” Krysta informed them.
“Evelyn I’ll see that the surgery is set up to accommodate our guests. Can you continue to monitor
the situation here and call me as soon as our friend there is awake and coherent? I’ll use two of your
orderlies if I may, and I might need Ryyan at some point. Untharans are notoriously feisty if they
need to be anaesthetised” He said and Evelyn contacted the relevant team members. Doc Stenerton
donned a fresh set of scrubs and a surgical gown and went to the Emergency Room Surgery to meet
the Untharans.
On the Veklaar’s Bridge Krysta was talking with the Untharan
Captain; who was an amateur Archaeologist himself. He took a keen interest
in the expeditions reports and findings. He was sipping a Keterian brandy
that he’d been offered and his eyes nictitating membranes fluttered with his
first sip.
“I wish I was a century younger; I’d be joining you on this venture. As it is;
I’m doing this last few runs before retiring, young I know for one of my
species to be considering retirement, but it’s down to matters of health
more than anything else. I have Vendarian Sclerosis; as yet not very advanced, but there is no cure
for the type I have.” He said. His name was Hunvar K’trill.
“You don’t show your age at all… Hunvar; in fact I thought you were about my Uncles age to be
honest. Do you want to accompany me down to ER to see how your crewman is doing?” Krysta
politely asked. He nodded and followed her to the Med Bay. They continued to chat as they made
their way. The cargo ship was returning from a visit to a mining colony near the Deneb cluster; a long
journey in a slow vessel, so the meeting with Veklaar and her crew was a welcome distraction. There
was a peel of laughter issuing from the Surgery as they approached. It was the Untharan crewman
who was laughing.
