“Forgive him Captain, he’s recovering from the anaesthetic we gave him; as you can see the wound
has been treated, but I’m afraid he’ll probably be like this for some time. Your slow Untharan
metabolisms take a lot longer to dissipate the drug that most races” Doc Stenerton said
apologetically.

“Think nothing of it Doctor; He’s due for shift down rotation anyway. He was stupid enough to take
on extra duty sessions against his supervisor’s wishes. He became drowsy while operating the lifting
hoist and got his leg snagged in the mechanism. Technically he shouldn’t have been using it as it was
earmarked for maintenance. But he’s young and we all do stupid things in our youth. His female
compatriot is equally at fault” Hunvar responded and blinked one of his eye membranes like a
human would wink. Stenerton smiled and nodded. Just then Evelyn called him over the intercom.

“You’d better get in here Doc he’s coming round” she said urgently. He made his excuses and
hurried off to the resuscitation area. Krysta explained about the Kryst they’d found and she and
Hunvar accompanied him to the chamber.

Evelyn was helping the Kryst out of the Sarcophagus and onto a
gurney. Hunvar gasped; a sound so unfamiliar enough from an Untharan
it took the others by surprise. He went down on one knee. Did a strange
crossing of his wrists and stood back up.

“May the Maker let me be forever blessed” He uttered continuing “So
this is a Kryst. I had not expected to see a living one in my life. My Great,
Great, Great Grandfather would know this creature as one of legend. A
race so ancient they are considered to be the origins of many Sky God
myths. He once told my young Uncle the ancient stories of the strangers
who fell from the sky. He would be envious of me now; being in the
presence of a… God!” he made the same wrist crossing gesture again.
Krysta had read about the Untharan Visitation Mythology; and most living Untharans considered it
just that, Mythology. How a race known as the “High Fallen” had come to the early ancestral
Untharans and helped them survive an impending disaster. The “High Fallen” had also given the
Untharans the skills and changes necessary to develop technologically; brain enhancement being
chief among these. Many who studied the Untharan society were disbelievers when it came to the
Untharan Genetic manipulation, stating the obvious route of evolution from a common ancestor of
them and a similar, but lesser species on Unthar. Krysta supposed the equivalent experience to that
Hunvar was going through now; would be similar to a late twentieth century Human actually
meeting the very creator race that triggered the diversion of the Human ancestor from the early
Apes. Talk about a culture shock.

The Kryst was still unsteady and disorientated. It
was now that they discovered why the Kryst language had
been so enigmatic. The Kryst reached out pointing to the
headband and all of them felt a sudden pain and fizzing
sensation in their heads. It was accompanied by a rapid
series of impressions and images. Evelyn handed the Kryst
the device and it put it on. The pain and fizzing subsided
and the Kryst appeared to relax a little. Hubris walked in
shaking his head to get rid of the after effects. “That was
some powerful mental blast we all just felt. I think I
understand why we’ve had difficulty with the language; there’s a telepathic component!” He
announced. The Kryst was looking directly at Hunvar just before Hubris came in. It was now staring
at Hubris with a strange expression on its face. It was a broad smile. The Kryst then spoke softly
some words in Vahamatese.
