“It’s just hanging there, the static has stopped and… Something’s happening on its surface, up to our
right!” said the Comms technician.
Part of the surface started to darken slightly, shimmer, and then solidify into what appeared to be a
large docking port.
“Do you think that thing is manned by any chance?” KKtrrrfft asked
“After all this time! I doubt it” answered Humerus as he entered the Bridge “It’s more likely to be an
automated system. Still; it would have been great to actually meet a living Krall!” he continued. A
debate ensued as to what to do next. The teams’ Medical expert, Lana Treggin, a Buraxin, entered.
“That thing has no radiation at all now!” she announced
“Then it’s safe to approach?” Fenton queried.
“You misunderstand me; there is a total lack of radiation. There should be at least a background
level” she corrected him sternly.
“But how is that even possible? Everything has some level of background radiation. Is it absorbing
radiation? Humerus; have any of your people ever seen anything like this?” Fenton asked rounding
on the bemused looking Nephel
“Never! Although the Osir have ancient tales of a race that could mask their presence they were not
the Krall. That was a race known only as the “Old ones”” Humerus offered.
“Humerus: have you always had that blemish on your arm?” Lana asked. Humerus looked at his arm.
It was reddened in a streak from his hand to his elbow. Only now did he realise it was painful.
“I raised my arm as the sphere rose up, instinctively of course. But I was in the Exo-Suit?” the
puzzled Nephel exclaimed.
“Come down to Med Bay and I’ll do some scans” Lana said as she took him away
Georg spoke next “KKtrrrfft; have we any of those old Flutvarn encounter suits?”
“I believe so, but we hardly use them these days. We have the Unat shields for protection.” The
Flutvarn replied
“Humerus was protected by Krall metal and some sort of radiation caught him. I just want to be
better prepared. We’ll use the encounter suits and the shields. Fenton do mind if the two Flutvarn
come along?” Georg asked Fenton
“I can’t see where any caution from me is going to stop you. But take a couple of Mechanoids and a
Comms tech with you. There’s a shuttle docked on the side facing that thing. Take a couple of the
Venusian Globes with you as well. It’s about time we had a closer look at this” he turned to the
young girl at comms “Send the data we have so far via the Hive-Net to Terra Prime. I’ll be down on
the observation deck Oh; and send copies to Lunaris Edo; they’ll be quicker with a brief analysis of
the scans etc. We may need their help later. Call me with their reply” turning back to the others he
continued “What are you still standing there for? Go on get a move on!” The others departed for the
starboard docking port.
