  Construct an electric connection for any domestic appliance like refrigerator and air
                           conditioner units.

                     Evaluate domestic wiring connection and debug any faults occurred.
                      Identify an appropriate method of heating and welding for any particular industrial
                           application.

                     Realize  the  appropriate  type  of  electrical  supply  system  as  to  evaluate  the  performance  of
                       tractions and electrical drives.

                     To disseminate an overview of various electric machines used in industries, power generation
                       and home appliances with a technical know-how on the control techniques.


               UNIT I         DC MOTORS                                                               9

               Construction and working principle, emf equation, torque equation, starting and running characteristics,
               speed control, braking, duty of operation, choice of motors.
               UNIT II        TRANSFORMERS                                                                 9

                Construction  and  working  principle,  equivalent  circuit,  regulation  and  efficiency,  autotransformers,
               industrial applications – welding transformer and furnace transformer.

               UNIT III       THREE PHASE INDUCTION MACHINES                                          9
               Construction  and  working  principle.  Induction  motors  –  torque  equation,  torque–slip  characteristics,
               starting and running characteristics, speed control, braking, choice of motor for industrial applications
               and traction.
