ransferring to a new college
after a year or two at another
institution is sometimes difficult.
Amy Cothern says, “It was hard
to leave another college to which I had
become accustomed and pick up in a
system where I needed to learn the ropes
as a second year student. I think it was
also more difficult for me to make friends
at first because I had my boyfriend who
transfered in with me as well.”
Some may think freshmen have a more
difficult time making friends, but there
are extra burdens for a transfer student
trying to make friends with classmates
who have been here for a year and have
firmly established relationships. It is
sometimes hard to “fit in.” Asked if it got
better as the school year went on, Amy
and Larry responded in the affirmative.
They had made friends with other
couples on campus and went out with
them.
