JAMES LEWIS SLAYDEN
Entered 1956
Vanderbilt
Jim, who opens Sam’s every morning after warring his way
in from the Yonkers’ frontier, usually arrives in school at nine
o’clock announcing that he worked from seven to three doing
his assignments. Sleeping through his first two periods, Jim
awakens with his thermos of black coffee at the break. With
this stimulant, he proceeds to discuss the finer points of poetry
and literature with Mr. Bruner-Smith in English Class. On
Jim’s extra-curricular side, he is the founder and Editor-in-
Chief of Analysis, in addition to belonging to the Below Four
teenth Street Club.
DONALD EDWARD SO BEL
Entered 1950
Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn
Don’s quiet and retired attitude does not reveal his unbe
lievable familiarity with scientific facts or hidden panels. As the
electrical genius of the Senior Class, he directed his knowledge
toward the installation of the auditorium’s intricate lighting
and sound system. His management of this equipment contrib
uted to the Dramatic Club's many successful productions. In
addition, Don’s value as a sleuth was displayed in his discovery
of several photographic plates (used elsewhere in this volume)
and a large cache of data of historical significance in the “cata
combs” of the school.
