I ^ebility: (a) tidiness (b) precedence (c) vigor (d) formality (e) isolation?? How could
f ^anyone know the meaning of this word unless he consulted Webster (or used
* J multiple guess)? This is just one of the many questions each “brave” junior must
face if he decided to take the PSAT’s (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test). This test,
lasting one hour and forty minutes, consisted of 115 questions based on verbal and ^
math skills. The difficulty of this test, according to William Ruf, RHS Counselor,
pended on whether or not you knew the answer. These tests are issued every^B
year the last Tuesday and Saturday in October by the Guidance Department to^ B
volunteering juniors. The purpose of taking this test was to give the students^B
a preview of college entrance exams. The tests are, “A good educational expe-^B
rience,” offered Ruf. Finalists are able to qualify for the National Merit \
Scholarship. ■■■imai jm W '
The rules have changed in the past few years. The test booklets are^B
now returned to the students. This was advantageous because the per-^B
son could check over his test to see what was missed. AB
, During the 1984-85 school year 112 juniors participated in tak-B lrl
ing the PSAT’s, this was the highest response ever.
Shelli Morgensen, junior, replied, “The tests are a lot like * * j
SRA’s. The math was easier than the vocabulary and reading
part. The words that were used were so hard you almost had to
study the dictionary to understand them.” a ^a *
