ood, food, food! In the near future those who ate lunch at Ralston High School were going
to have an even bigger selection of cuisine to choose from. The cafeteria staff had already
started making new additions consisting of pretzels, malts, strawberry and chocolate, and
a spaghetti bar which consisted of two sauces, meat with or without mushrooms, garlic bread,
for those who had a palate which was tolerable to spices, fruit, and milk. Students were able
to get all of this for just $1.00. Some comments of RHS students concerning these additions
to the lunch program reflected a positive and approving attitude towards the changes.
The reason for adding these delicacies was to “help interest” students into participating
in the lunch program. Jeannie Jump, senior commented that the new additions were a
good idea because there was a lot of variety. She also stated she thought people
were a lot
F less apt to skip lunch. Gayle Pankratz, sophomore, feels that the improvements
will reflect a more positive attitude toward the lunches, which may encourage more
additions.
Wait, that was not all, future plans also consisted of a baked potato bar and a
soup and salad bar. Lillian Kvetensky, the manger of Ralston's cafeteria said
that the reason for adding this food was to promote interest.
Students of RHS should be proud of their lunch program, which has earned
public recognition. Student Council members from Papillion High School came
to inspect the lunch program at RHS with intentions of getting ideas from
surrounding schools for their new lunch program.
