The 2009 Football Colonels had a
bounce back year under the reins of first
year head coach for the Colonels, Mr.
Dave Wirth.
The Colonels started slowly, losing their
first three games, but under strong senior
leadership the Colonels then won the
next four games. The Colonels had
convincing wins over Campbell Co.,
Beechwood, and New Cath.
With senior quarterback Bragden
Erpenbeck under center, the Colonels
were equipped with an explosive
offense, including Mike Robinson and
Beau Geisen at Erpenbeck's disposal. The
defense was led bg seniors Chris Garnick,
Andy Deglow, and Neil Martin. Chris led
the team in tackles while Neil led in
interceptions. The defensive line was
anchored bg seniors Ben Frisch and Frank
Kremer.
Though the 6-6 record does not seem
too great, this 2009 football season is
one to remember. The team, led bg
sixteen seniors, has changed the
mentalitg of this football program. This
program, now led bg Wirth and the
Renaissance man himself. Coach Rag, is
headed in the right direction once again,
and verg soon will be winning State
Championships again.
