This year’s fall play was “The Miracle Worker,” a
riveting story of Helen Keller. The small but dedi
cated cast presented the incredible biography of
a woman bom both blind and deaf who over
came her physical limitations with the help of
her teacher, Annie Sullivan. Senior Katie Chappell
learned key signs in American Sign Language to
make her performance more convincing. Annie
Sullivan, played by freshman Brenna Carlin, al
lowed Helen to becom e connected to the out
side world. The play culminated in an emotional
scene in which Helen understands her first word,
water. This intense scene left audience members
with chills. The casts’ long rehearsals and devo
tion to the show were well worth the brilliantly
performed story of a blind and deaf girl whose
              senses are brought to life.
