This year’s Holy Child Ski Trip, always a much-anticipated event, was a huge success. The trip, to Waterville
Valley, New Hampshire, consisted of mostly freshmen and a handful of juniors and eighth graders. For those who
attended, this weekend getaway proved to be a highlight of the school year. Three days were filled with adven
ture, from seven-hour bus rides to skiing or snowboarding down the bunny-hill for the first time. Many girls
even went for an extra challenge and participated in lessons for snowboarding or skiing. If girls didn’t feel like
skiing, there were many other activities to choose from, including ice skating, snowball fights, shopping, eating,
cooking their own food, and just hanging around with friends back at the condos. Some of the juniors even
encountered a boy - a strange experience for Holy Child girls! On the skiing front, the chilly, windy weather
made traveling down the mountain difficult at times. The single digit temperatures Saturday through Monday
made many of the skiers pile on their layers in attempt to stay warm. Despite the cold, returning students were
quick to encourage more participation for next year’s trip!
