close matches followed. Of these the wrestlers took
only one, tying another, both against St. Andrew’s,
another inexperienced team. The closest of the losses
were to Providence Country Day and to Hope High.
A tribute to the fine coaching skill of "the Hunter”
was the continually improving performance of senior
Jim Medoff. Jim began the season with a lot of
potential and drive but with a lack of technique. The
wrestling knowledge he acquired in practice, in ad
dition to his natural assets, brought him a fine record
which included six pins and third place in the Class
"C” Tournament. Captain Pete Burnett had a good
season, highlighted with a fourth in the tournament.
Jeff Smart showed great improvement. Much is ex
pected from him next year and also from Ed Ricci,
a sophomore with a lot of potential.
All the teams are looking forward to next year,
and the wrestling team is no exception. Hopefully,
there will be nine lettermen returning. We feel that
if the team can do a lot more hard work in the
wrestling room, it can have a greatly improved record
next season. Thanks to Mr. Huntsman and the
captain, the team has had a good start, a necessity
for a bright future.
