Third In The District
For The Second Year In
a Row, The Women Are
Still Building For The
The women’s basketball team had an
other interesting year. The end of the
season record was almost identical to
last years record. Coach Gold con
tinued building the camaraderie, sta
bility, and unity that he began last
year.
The higher number of returning
players was an distinct advaantage.
The Lady Cougars were again led by
senior Guard Janell Marple. She av
eraged an amazing twenty three
points per game, good enough to rank
her third in the nation among NC-
CAA womens basketball teams.
Although with a 6-14 record, the
Lady Cougars ended up third in the
districts. Despite the many losses, the
attitudes of the women remained high
and were a great testimony for the
school.
Freshman Kim Hester
makes an additional

third leading scorer av
eraging 8.0 points per
game and making 5.4
assists.
