mm wm ith the presidential elections drawing near,
many watched the public debates and researched the
candidates and their beliefs. On November 28, several
students had the opportunity to experience first-hand a
live two-hour debate moderated by Anderson Cooper. The
event, held at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, was
hosted by CNN in conjunction with the YouTube Website.
The eight candidates vying to be the Republican nominee
for president fielded video questions from the public via
YouTube.

for his Argumentative Debate Class. I looked on the web
site for the state Republican Party. It said that the event
was closed; but if you have questions, call. I called and got
a voice mail so I left the message. A different person called
back and told me he could give me a ticket. I explained
that I was trying to get a group in. He said it probably could
not happen, but he wanted to know how many. I told him
fifteen. He got back with me and said he was able to get
eleven tickets. I was able to get the information to him
and CNN approved it. I have had comments from the local
Republican party as well as comments from the presiden
tial representatives who have been very surprised that we
were able to get tickets." ◄ ►
