Seniors' Final Fling
Elkorn River and Fontenelle Forest were the settings for the
duo-picnics taken by the Senior Class during the school year.
Rising before dawn 50 brave '66ers treked to the Elkorn at
4 a.m. Friday, May 27, to have a breakfast picnic. Armed with
pans, eggs, bacon, and other necessities the true pioneers of the
clan prepared their breakfasts on the open fire. Other more
skeptical members brought sacks of donuts and hot chocolate. A
morning dip is often refreshing but not when the water is 85
degrees below zero and your clothes aren't water repellent and
neither is your hair, asafewofthe girls found out. Hill climbing,
girl chasing, and the spotting of a UFO by a few early arrivers
highlighted the morning's activities.
Hot pop and cold dogs was the appetizing menu for the Senior
Class picnic held at Fontenelle Forest May 31. Running in the
woods, throwing shoes in the fire, copping food, and chasing girls
up trees occupied most of the time as Mr. Neidl, class sponsor, Gloria Jensen
