A New Coach And New Season

Brings Forth Renewed

DETERMINATION

The Lady Cougars basketball season was a very challenging

one, but we never lost our determination. As the season

progressed, we became very close as a team. The many road

trips, hard practices, midnight practices, and practical jokes

were only a small part of building the unity of the team.

Our devotional time together was the key to building unity.

The time spent in devotions helped us to become more unified

as servants of Christ. We realized that every game that we

played was for the honor and glory of God.

Coach Kris DeWitt had a spiritual influence on each of our

lives. She was a very dedicated coach on and off the court.

She kept the team in her prayers even when we were not

practicing or playing a game. Much of her time was spent

either teaching us more about basketball or praying for each of

us daily. Even though Julia Armstrong,our manager, was not

out on the court, she worked hard and played an important

part of our team.

Although this season was filled with struggle, we know' that

our determination, hard work, and hustle made us better

players. Our spiritual lives, as well as our physical lives, were

deeply enriched this year. -Susan Williams

Shoot for two! Junior Crissic Hawkins goes up for the basket against the St.

Petersburg Junior College Chargers. During the season, the team usually plays a

few non-conference schools to keep themselves up-to-par. The girls always play an

agressive game proving that they cannot be underestimated.

Teamwork is an important key to a

victory. Our Lady Cougars always strive

for unity on and off the court. After

challenging their classes during the day,

the girls put their studies aside for a

good competitive game.

Coach DeWitt offers instruction during a

time out. No matter how intense the

game becomes, the team can always

count on Coach’s cool head to guide

them to a victory. After listening to her

instruction, the girls can rally together

to keep a winning edge in the game.
