Indents realize that the purpose of
attending college is to learn and to
obtain an education. However, it
doesn’t take long for them to
discover that it is impossible (and
not always profitable) to study all
the time. During the evening, the
time spent studying may actually exceed the time
spent pursuing leisure activities. This should not be
compared with the weekend, when the situation
reverses itself.
On the weekends, only the most dedicated are to
be found studying. Even with weekend work
schedules, most students find some time to get off
campus with friends. Many dorm residents who live
close enough to go home for the weekend take along
friends who live farther away. Even commuting
students help out their friends with weekend get-a
ways. Laurelei McKenna from California says,
