of time had little relevence for us.
We were often anxious and
impatient because we wanted to
be older and allowed to do many
things that the “ big kids’’ were
permitted to do. One of the most
distant shadows of the myths of childhood was
college — the place that teenagers went and after
having the greatest, most entertaining time of their
lives, emerged as adults. Now' that we are older and
hopefully wiser, the truth is beginning to be revealed
to us in horrifying clarity. Yes, college is fun with
recreational activities and games for all; but when
mid-term examinations roll around, we suddenly find
the need to become serious about our studies. We

classrooms, and even in the gymnasium, trying to
