"It was kind of like a bonding thing for the swim team. It was pretty
cool. We all just hung out and cut our hair."
-Senior Kenny Ochsner
Why did you shave your
heads? T.J. Dougherty: "For
the heck of it." Derek Ahl: "I
guess we shaved our heads just
to show that we have a lot of
spirit and we stick together."
Kenny Ochsner: "We needed a
haircut." Who’s idea?
Ochsner: "Tradition." Who
started it?
Ahl: "In the state a lot of swim
mers do it, it cuts a lot of time off.
Instead of wearing a cap some
guys like to shave their heads, it
gets rid of the resistance. A lot of
people do it. It gets us pretty
well riled up. Ochsner: "It was

psychological thing; it gives us
an attitude." How much time
does it cut off? Zbylut:
"Knocked a second off my time."
Jeff Tierney: "Knocked 15 sec

Zbylut: "My mom
was shocked. I told her that it

just more fashion to worry about." Ochsner: "It

head shaving event.
We all cut our hair so I don't
think that was the issue." Ahl:
"He looked pretty goofy, but we
did it anyway. Ochsner: We
are more fashion oriented this
year." Ahl: If you're going to do
this, do it during a warm season
. . . They say that 60 percent of
your body heat goes out through
your head so it you don't have
any hair it goes out quicker."
