’’There are 56 flights of stairs and there are 12 stairs a flight so we
figured out it was about 700 stairs."

                      Great Woodman
                      Ascent? "It's for
                      the Cystic Fibrosis
                      Foundation, and I
                      just remember I
                      was watching TV.
They had a commercial for it, and
that Tony Barone was a sponsor
for it. My uncle and I like to do a
lot of stuff like that together. Since
my dad and I don't have that
great of a relationship, he kinda
fills in lots of times. I called him
and asked him, and we decided
to do it so that's how we got to
gether on that. I called the Cystic
         Fibrosis Foundation, and they
sent us pamphlets. You have to
go and raise money. There are 56
flights of stairs and there are 12
stairs a flight so we figured out it
was about 700 stairs. You ask
people to pledge for you about 10
        cents a flight so that's $5.60 and
you have to raise at least $56, to
run in the race. You raise the
money. If you want to get timed
like my uncle and I do, we've
been doing this for about 5 years,
you go up there at about 8:30. My ooking stylish in his
uncle went first and he'll go, and L new do is Sophomore
they allow about a minute and a Adam Lane. Lane and
half, and then the next runner other Ralston swimmers
will go. The record is 15 times for took part in the head
one person to go up. The fastest shaving ritual.
ascent was 3 minutes and 24 sec
onds, and this year I got 5th place.
                                             enior E.J. Zbylut shaved
I got up it in 4 minutes and 39 S a Z on his head in
seconds. There were 621 partici preparation for the state
pants this year. The youngest swimming meet. It resulted
child they had was 6 months be in knocking a second off
cause he was on a parent's back.
The oldest participant was 75. his time, Zbylut said.
This year I raised $56, but the
second year I raised close to $300.
We just like to do it for the chal
lenge to try and get better every
year... I train here at the school.
1 lift weights all the time and I run
a lot so I just ran more stairs when
         1 was running."
