In  the  State  championships,  Eric  Schreuder  placed
  ifth  in  the  200-yd.  freestyle  and  fourth  in  the  400;
 -Job  Cox  took  a  fourth  in  the  50  freestyle;  in  the
 . ndividual  medley  Paul  Kervick  won  a  fourth  place;
  U  Bunnett  placed  fourth  in  the  backstroke;  and  the
  elay  team  of  Bob  Christensen,  Dick  Licht,  John
  pencer  and  Carl  Bush  took  another  fourth  place  for
  4B.
   The  outstanding  performer  of  the  season  was  Eric
                                                                          Backstroker A1 Bunnett
  chreuder.  Undefeated  in the 400-yd.  freestyle, he lost
  nly once in  the  200.  Moreover, he broke four school
  tandards.  The  medley  relay  quarter  of  Bunnett, Ker-
  ick, Schilhavy, and  Cox broke the school record  three
  mes.  Another  outstanding  performer  was  back-
  :roker  A1  Bunnett  who  won  numerous  first  places.
  p>ob Cox became  the team’s  fastest sprinter, anchoring
  'inning  relays,  and  scoring  victories  in  the  50  and
  JO-yd.  freestyle  events.  Captain  Licht  and  Dick
  thilhavy  were  an  extremely  strong  combination  in
  ie  buttlerfly.  Paul  Kervick  was  a  fine  individual
  ledleyist;  and  Harris  Gorab,  developed  into  a  fine
  teastroker.  John  Spencer,  another  long-distance
   hmmer,  showed  great  improvement  and  at  the  end
  if  the  season  consistently  placed  second  to  Schreuder.
  i arl Bush  and  Bob  Christensen  became  fine  sprinters,
  reshman Dave Hall showed great potential as a diver,
  id  Arnie  Peterson  and  Jim  Demetre  were  also point
  |inners.
   The  mermen  had  a  fairly  successful  and  extremely
  ijoyable season.  Mr.  Smyth  will  lose  his  two  butter-               Captain Dick Licht
  [ers and two backstrokers;  however, next year, he and
  aptain  Schreuder  will  have  plenty  of  material  to
  ork  with  and  can  hope  for  a  successful  season.
