Ben Balch has been wandering around
Moses Brown for four years; some have con
jectured that he has been put on the honors
list because nobody knows where else to put
him. Actually he’s there because his teachers
are ashamed of the fact that Ben works hard
er than they do. Bill is an integral part of
the Delphian, even though A1 wouldn’t let
him write all of the spring issue. Ben’s hot
combo, the Moses Brown Band, would have
played at the Senior Prom instead of Mercer
Ellington, but its schedule was too full of
chapel assemblies and Father and Son Day
                                           programs. Perhaps the salient characteristics
of Ben's personality are his original dress—
long sleeves and mismatched shoes— and his
impassioned sermons in English class. With
such a background Bill will undoubtedly be
come a great leader of the lost generation.

                                                                                                                    1

Gerry possesses a certain fine quality not
ably lacking in the more conspicuous mem
bers of our class; he works hard. Nobody
could figure out why Gerry studied hard un
til he showed up with an early admissison
to Trinity. For enduring endless hard sea
sons on the tennis courts, Gerry has won
three letters and numerous state tennis
awards. On weekends, he works hard, too
                                   — his date book is always full. If more of his
erstwhile classmates had possessed his good
sense, calmness, and sophistication, we might
have accomplished more at our class meet
ings. Gerry will no doubt achieve the same
success at college as he has achieved here.
