Hurricane Andrew didn’t just
affect Florida. Here in Ralston,
Nebraska the Student Government
Organization collected money dur
ing the lunch periods and sent $50
to help the relief effort there.
SGO is an elected group of
students who represent the stu
dent body of Ralston High School.
They raised money throughout the
school year by doing various activi
ties such as a beach party, mud
volleyball, and a ping-pong tourna
ment. They then put the 600 to
800 dollars that they raised back
into the school.
Teachers this year were given
a mouse pad as a sign of apprecia
tion by SGO during Teacher Ap
preciation Week. (Nov. 22-27)
“It’s (Teacher Appreciation Week)
the one week out of the whole year
that they (teachers) actually feel
like they are doing something,” said
junior SGO Secretary Tabatha
Dodge.
The ideas for fund-raisers and
projects from teachers and stu
dents according to Dodge. People
tell SGO what they need or what
they want and SGO tries its best to
improve and make our school a
better place to be. SGO runs on
a very tight budget and as Trea
surer junior Jeff Peterson said that
SGO can’t spend too much but the
projects or gifts need to be useful
and they need to fulfill a purpose.
Teachers were not the only
people that benefited from SGO
projects. SGO revitalized the com
mons area with the addition of
benches for students to sit on and
rugs to make the commons look
