An old inn, a vanishing corpse, and a single key?
What could these three things possibly have in common? Ac
tually quite a lot, as it turns out. The spring play, The Seven
Keys to Baldpate, a mystery by George M. Cohan, contained a
little bit of everything, from gun slinging to murder to a mad
hermit. The main character, William Magee, played by Josh
Galster, is an eccentric author who takes on a deal that if he
can write a book in twenty-four hours in an old inn, he will be
awarded five thousand dollars. He is given a key to the inn,
called Baldpate, and he begins his novel.
He has been promised that he will not be
bothered during his time at the inn and
that the key he has been given is the only
key in existence to the inn. However, he
soon discovers that more than one kev ex-

the novel finished within the time period.
Soon he finds himself in the middle of a
drama that unfolds around him. Mysteri

as they please, many of them connected in
some way. They all have one thing in com
