The largest department in the Pine Crest
Upper School is devoted to the study of the
English language. The ultimate goal of this
department is to improve a student’s ability to
read, speak, and think clearly. Among other
projects, students in the English classes study
classics from many ages and explore the com­
plexities of the language. Elective courses
available to those students interested in
becoming more advanced in English include
Modern Literature, Speech, European Litera­
ture, Journalism, and Creative Writing.
