SWIMMING
The Pine Crest swimming team has always been known for its out
standing teams, as well as Olympic quality individuals. 1974-75 was no
exception. The girls’ team destroyed the opposition in Atlanta, and, the
boys finished second at Lawrenceville in the tough national prep school
field.
The year started out with a bang with the U.S. Olympic Committee’s
selection of Jack Nelson as the coach of the U.S. Women’s Olympic
Team. W ith his usual modesty, Coach Nelson accepted the appoint
ment and shared his excitement with his swimmers. At a special student
assembly, Coach Nelson received a well-deserved standing ovation. He
then silenced everyone and said, "Excuse me, but we have work to do.”
TH AT’S Coach Jack Nelson.
