oin us for a typical day with a not-
J so-typical family starring John
Morrissey as Ward, Jan Knowles as June,
Dave Janecek as Wally, and Rob Ek as
the Beaver.
( GOLLY, B€M/G ) complete with
Sack lunches,
June’s famous
chocolate
brownies, awaited the “Leave it to
Beaver” clan as they opened the A.A.
Review variety show.
With the stage lights dim, a rowdy
audience, and nervous amateurs, the show
was full of various entertainment which
caught the imagination of the audience.
Ward and June Cleaver left their boys on
stage alone to introduce such acts as the
Runnelses, a punk dance company; Wes
Rogers, the Rodney Dangerfield of
Ralston High; a 50’s medley by the Pink
Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys of
“Grease”; and Waylon and Willie singing
“Good Hearted Woman.”
Attracting near sell-out crowds, the
review was co-sponsored by the French
Club and ITS (International Thespian
Society). Anyone was allowed to be in the
show as long as he got his act censored
and approved by English teacher Jan
Knowles, head of operations for the show.
After-school meetings and rehearsals
preceded the opening night, April 9, to
assure some form of quality
entertainment.
As the end drew near, the Cleavers put
on their robes, wished the audience well,
had a goodnight snack of brownies and
milk, and went to sleep.
Beaver and Ju n e C leaver, along with friend Lumpy (junior
Brad Johnson), listen to Ward as he runs through the agenda for
the evening.
Exploiting his m usical talen t, alumnus John Palensky brings
the cowd to a roar with his guitar solo during a song by the Pam
Bauer band.
