< < {| S there life after practice?’ was
Iheard many times during the
year,” said coach Gary Dubbs, “but
the boys all understood why they
worked so hard.”
Most valuable runner was senior
Dana Davenport. Dana also set a new
400 meter and 200 meter record and
was on the 1600 meter relay at the
state meet. Joining Dana in the 1600
relay were other seniors: Steve Lee,
Todd Hansen, and Dan Weichel.
Other state qualifiers were Brad
Johnson in the shot put and Todd
Hansen in the discus.
Dan Weichel also set a school record
in the 300 meter hurdles and Jeff
Lynn set a record in the long jump.
“I wasn’t satisfied how I finished the
year,” said senior Dana Davenport. “I
wish 1 could have really done better at
state, but 1 still had a good time this
year.”
“Maybe this wasn’t one of the most
talented teams, but one of the best
working teams that we have had in
past years,” added Dubbs. “I’m looking
forward to coaching next year.”
